Recipe: Savory Soil Casserole

Earthy. Aromatic. Full of fungi. This all-natural favorite is hit with trees and shrubs.

Yields 1 single teaspoon serving.

List of Ingredients:

  • 1 billion bacteria
  • 4 yards of mycorrhizal fungi filaments
  • 4,000 protozoa
  • 350 nematodes
  • 1 earthworm
  • 1 teaspoon of dirt
  • 2 cups of leaves
  • 4 cups of wood chips

Preheat the oven to 450°. In a bowl, mix one teaspoon of dirt with the leaves and woodchips. Let sit for 30-60 days until material starts to break down and rot.

In a separate bowl, gently mix the bacteria, mycorrhizal fungi, protozoa, and nematodes. Be mindful not to overmix, or you will damage the fungi.

Carefully fold the microscopic mixture into the rotting organic matter. Do not overmix.

Pour into an ungreased casserole dish. Bake for 150 - 750 years, depending on environmental conditions.

Once cooled, place earthworm on top. Serve immediately.
